Self Portrait #2

"Real life is a funny thing you know. In real life saying the right thing, at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial in fact, that most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I’ve began to fear more than that, is letting the moment pass with saying anything. I think you deserved to look back on your life without this chorus of resounding voices saying, I could of but it’s too late now. So there’s a time for silent, and there a time for waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly know what you need to say. You’ll know it. I don’t think you should wait. I think you should speak now."

This definitely took a lot of patience. And glitter.

  1. This is awesome! I tried something similar with a dandelion once and i definitely did not have the patience. You really captured the glitter in motion and I love the bokeh effect of the lights in the background, I've been wanting to try that myself.

  2. This is a great photo! When I heard you say in class that you wanted to do something with glitter I couldn't wait to see your photo. I really like the crop- how your mouth is the focus in the background. And I too like the bokeh effect.
Could I ask what camera settings you used? I really wanted to try something like this but I'm not sure what the best settings would be. =)

  3. Thank you both so much! I think the bokeh really made the picture, although my mom wasn't too happy about having to dig the holiday lights out of the basement hah! And Ashley of course :) I put my ISO on 100 even though it was dark outside, since I was using a flash and wanted the photo to look as smooth as possible. My aperture was at f3.5, and shutter speed was 1/60.

  4. Rosie, you have a way of injecting your flair for life into your photography and that is such a special thing. Keep doing what you're doing. Every image you create truly reflects your style.

  5. Okay that is magical, not cool, but magical like something out of a Disney film like Peter Pan. The timing of the photo definitely makes it go from interesting to fascinating. The flash maybe a little too high on the flying glitter, but overall a pretty great photo.
